You will be advised at the consultation of any recommended treatment options and these will be outlined in your clinic letter.

Advice on skin damage prevention will also be provided.

FAQs

What does Mr Kalu look for at the skin assessment?

He will look for possible signs of skin cancer, and lesions that may be benign (non-cancerous).

What types of treatments could be offered?

-Cryotherapy – use of extreme cold spray to freeze and remove certain benign (non-cancerous) lesions using liquid nitrogen.
-Topical therapies (creams), such as Efudix (5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) or imiquimod.
-Shave excision – to remove superficial skin lesions with a scalpel by ‘shaving’ the lesion.
-Surgical excision – where the skin lesion is removed down to the deeper levels of the skin under local anaesthetic.
